Drone Monitoring.
From telemetry to a clearer picture.

Drone monitoring dashboard displaying simulated telemetry.
- 01
Problem
How can incoming drone telemetry become a useful, continuously updated monitoring view?
- 02
Context & constraints
Telemetry needs to update without page reloads. The public demo uses simulated data and is separate from the university platform I co-developed.
- 03
My contribution
I built the personal telemetry demo. Separately, I co-developed a monitoring platform at Sun Yat-sen University; this public case demonstrates the demo implementation, not the university deployment.
- 04
Approach & implementation
An HTTP API accepts telemetry, stores it in InfluxDB and broadcasts updates over WebSocket. A React and Leaflet dashboard displays flight status, position and trajectory; Docker Compose supports local setup.
- HTTP → WebSocket
- Time-series storage
- Map visualisation
- 05
Outcomes & evidence
The repository provides a simulator, sample payloads, a dashboard and local startup instructions. The public evidence demonstrates a monitoring workflow with simulated telemetry.
- 06
Limitations
Simulated telemetry does not prove field reliability, production security, scale or operational impact. No deployment evidence or load-test results for the separate university platform are included here.
- 07
Future work
Add documented load tests and clearer operational diagnostics.

Evidence & source
The public README describes the HTTP API, WebSocket stream, InfluxDB setup, simulator and local run instructions. All portfolio captures use simulated telemetry.
